Pressure Cooker Mutton Curry

Delicious and spicy mutton curry cooked in pressure cooker . I have used goat but can be easily made with Lamb.

Ingredients

  • Mutton  –  approx 1.5 lbs
  • Onions- 4 medium (thinly sliced)
  • Big cardamom- 1
  • Bay leaf-  – 1 big
  • Garlic – 4- 5 cloves, peeled
  • Ginger – 1 inch piece
  • Whole Red Chilies – 8 – 10 (deseeded and soaked in warm water for atleast half hour)
  • Ginger powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Fennel powder – 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder- 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder- 1/2 tsp
  • Yogurt- 1 tbsp
  • Tomatoes – 2, peeled and chopped
  • Salt – to taste
  • Coriander leaves- to garnish

Instructions-

  • Make a paste of red chillies with garlic and ginger and keep aside
  • Heat oil and add bay leaf, cardamom and cloves and cook for 1/2 a minute
  • Add onions and saute till light brown
  • Add mutton pieces and the chili paste and salt. Mix well
  • Cook for about 5 minutes, keep stirring
  • Add rest of the powdered masalas and yogurt, mix well and cook for 2 minutes.
  • Add Peeled and chopped tomatoes and mix everything well, cover and let cook for 10 minutes.  keep checking and stirring in between.
  • Add some water( desired amount) and pressure cook untill done. I cooked it upto 4 whistles
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve
