There can be so many different ways to make chicken curry. This one is quick and easy and always a crowd pleaser, comes together in under 30 minutes.
You can adjust the gravy and spiciness according your taste.
Ingredients
- Chicken – 1 pound
- Onion – 3 small(chopped)
- Tomatoes- 2 (pureed)
- Salt- to taste
- Big cardamom – 2
- Small cardamom – 2
- Bay leaf – 1
- Grated ginger and garlic – 2 tsp
- Cinnamon stick – 1 inch piece
- Turmeric powder- 3/4th tsp
- Kashmiri red chili powder – 1 tsp (or to taste)
- Coriander Powder – 2 1/2 tsp
- Cumin powder – 1/2 tsp
- Chicken curry powder – 1/2 tbsp
- Wheat flour – 1/2 tsp
- Coriander leaves – to garnish
Instructions-
- Add 1/2 tsp kashmiri red chili powder, 1/2 tsp coriander powder and 1/4th tsp turmeric powder to chicken pieces and coat well
- Heat oil in a pan
- Add bay leaf, small cardamom, big cardamom and cinnamon stick
- Add chopped onions and cook for a minute
- Add salt to taste
- Add Ginger garlic and cook for 1 min
- Add the remain coriander powder, red chili powder and turmeric powder
- Add cumin powder
- Mix very well
- Add chicken pieces, mix well, cover and cook for 2 minutes
- Now add the chicken curry masala powder and mix well
- Add the pureed tomatoes, cook for another minute
- Add 1 1/2 cups of water, 1/2 tsp wheat flour and mix well
- Cover and cook until chicken is cooked(about 15 – 20 min)
- Stir in between and add more water if needed
- Serve and enjoy with Roti, Parantha or rice
